Built in the mountain town of Canmore, just 45 minutes from Calgary, this Mountain Vernacular home has an obvious Contemporary flare. The architectural controls for the area insisted on a traditional Mountain Vernacular style to the home but the client wished for something less rustic. This was accomplished through the use of traditional timber and stone construction with contemporary curved shapes. Maximum view exposure was achieved for this home, as it enjoys impressive views of the Three Sisters Mountain Range, the Bow River, and the Bow Valley. The standing seam metal roof accentuates the contemporary elements but is still in keeping with traditional Canmore architecture.
